9月18日未明、シンガポール北東部の広範囲で停電が発生。
停電は数時間に及び、14万7千戸以上がこの停電の影響を受けたということだ。 人々は、エアコンが作動しないための寝苦しさと、Wi-Fiが使えない不便さをひしひしと感じながら復旧までの時間を過ごしたということだ。 外は普段ついている明かりが消えてしまったために真っ暗。 どういうわけか停電を免れた家の明かりがぽつぽつと照っている場所もあったようだ。 約40分後、電気は無事に復旧したということだ。
