Shigeo Hosoya, 56, former director of the Japanese franchisee company was charged for tax evasion (personal income).
He under declared JPY 232 million (roughly SGD 2.9 mil) of personal income from 2016 to 2018, and did not pay JPY 88 mil (roughly SGD 1 mil) of personal income taxes.

Amazing.
It sounds like Tiramisu Hero’s Japan is making so much more money compared to Singapore’s (But obviously they would need to pay royalties to the original Tiramisu Heroes).
Cos if this was his personal income (salaries/bonus/director’s fee), I really wonder how much tiramisu need to be sold?

Tiramisu Hero Japan’s estimated sales
To calculate estimated sales, we would need to assume several things, and here they are.
- his personal income = 100% sales generated from sale
- JPY 100 = SGD 1.00
- 3 years of sale SGD 2.32 million
- Avg price per tin = SGD 10

So let’s calculate!
Total number of Tiramisu sold =
SGD 2.32 mil ÷ SGD 10 = 232,000 tiramisu sold in 3 years.
Let’s break down to per year =
232,000 ÷ 3 = 77,333 tiramisu sold per year
Let’s break it down again to per month =
77,333 ÷ 12 = 6,444 tiramisu sold
Last one, per day! =
6,444 ÷ 30 = 214 tiramisu per day
I’m not so sure how much Singapore’s Tiramisu hero is selling per day in Singapore consistently, however, I might think that Japan could be selling so much more compared to the original ones here.
And that’s amazing job, as they do not even have a flagship cafe in Japan, and only sell them through department stores (food section), mostly as a pop-up store.
I really would like to take my hats off for this guy in Japan. Maybe I should contact him, so he could market our Merlion character.
