2018年1月8日は、シンガポールの広範囲で記録的な大雨に見舞われた朝だった。 BartleyのKim Chuan Road areaでは4時間の間118.8mmの降雨量を観測した。これは1月平均の約半分の降雨量に相当するという。この激しい雨により、シンガポール国内9か所で鉄砲水を観測。その他4か所でも水害が発生した。午前10時30分を過ぎたあたりから大雨と水害は収まり始めたという。
