You can just walk-in casually, yet dine top class premium food and sake.

Rockon Tokyo Chefs Miyoshi Sekine

  • Koki Miyoshi (KAMOSHITA), and
  • Sekiya Katsuyuki,

The intimate restaurant seats a max of 22 pax, and is decked with minimalist interior of welcoming wood.

Rockon Tokyo’s name is derived from the word Roku in Japanese, which means the number 6,

inviting customers to listen to their sixth sense, and pick out their favorites for a wonderful evening.

Here are 3 reasons why you should definitely visit the newly opened Rockon Tokyo!

Reason 1

1.Traditional Obanzai style cooking in Singapore!

Rockon serves up true Obanzai in the traditional Kyoto home-cooked style, that is heartwarming and healthy.

Their menu changes every 2 weeks to observe the availability of prime seasonal menus, the food also comes with a range of premium and rare sake, as well as wine and champagne.

Define Obanzai
Obanzai is a customary style of cuisine that originated in Kyoto, Japan.

Although nowadays, Obanzai refers to home-cooked food or everyday dishes and prepared meals.

Also known as Rockon Tokyo’s version of TKG (Tamago kake Gohan), the simple dish is elevated to its premium status with servings of:

  • White Truffle
  • Ikura
  • Caviar
  • Uni

Steamed Japanese rice is served under a blanket of torched egg white meringue, and egg yolk.

The premium White Truffles are displayed to you in a LV trunk, before being shaved generously onto the bowl.

This is definitely the epitome of decadence that is a must get at Rockon Tokyo!

Another rice bowl not to be missed is the Gout-o I.C.U. (Ikura, Caviar and Uni)!

The namesake dish features 3 mini rice bowls topped with generous portions of Ikura, caviar and uni at $69.

I would just head here for this mini-bowls at drink Japanese sake.

See? Talking about indulgence, this place has it all!

Reason 2

2. Experienced Chefs

Koki Miyoshi, and Sekiya Katsuyuki are both respectable, and highly experienced chefs that have dedicated their lives to perfecting and delivering Japanese cuisine to their diners.

Head chef Sekiya, who originates from Saitama Japan, was the head chef of Akane, a premium Japanese restaurant located in the Japanese Association of Singapore.

He also has amassed countless experiences from starting up and working in countless izakaya restaurants all around Asia, including Hokkaido Izakaya in Singapore.

Chef/Sake sommelier Koki Miyoshi also has many years of experiences under him.

An Ehime prefecture native, he was the former chef at the Japanese embassy in London for over two years, and now runs Kamoshita.

Kamoshita is a highly popular restaurant that serves traditional Oden dishes at Neil Road.

Reason 3

Rockon Tokyo Omakase Menu

At Rockon, they also offer an Omakase menu, that we would highly recommend.

Rockon’s omakase ($88)  is both of value for money.

Also, it is a good introduction to what the chefs have to offer.

Their Omakase menu includes:

  1. Starter
  2. Assorted Obanzai
  3. A warm dish
  4. Seasonal Sashimi
  5. Charcoal-grilled Seasonal Fish
  6. Seasonal Fried Fish
  7. Tamago Kake Gohan
  8. Homemade honey lemon pudding

You may also add:

  • Rockon Treasure Box for $90, or
  • a Gout-O I.C.U for $60

Sake pairings are also available as an add on option for 5 glasses of sake pairing at $60!

Oh, they do too have things hidden under their sleeves for their Japanese sake menu!

Check out this White Truffle + Sake.

A must try for those truffle lovers.

True to Obanzai fashion, the cuisine is actually meant for sharing, which is founded upon the principles and importance of eating together.

This strengthens the family-oriented culture and also promotes bonding of communities.

Rockon hopes to achieve just that, and serve as a place where many can come and dine together.

Whilst experience dishes that bring a sense of comfort, while ensuring extravagant combination of flavors from well sourced ingredients that will make you come back for more!

We expect Rockon to grow to be one of the most popular places for good Japanese foods, and reservations will become increasingly hard to come by
